Class 7 World War 1 Assembly

On Friday, class 7 did their assembly on World War 1.
The children have been studying The Great War to mark the centenary.
They have read stories, written letters and created poems.

They recited the book Where the Poppies Now Grow and then finished the assembly with a rendition of Pack Up Your Troubles and It's a Long Way to Tipperary.

Da iawn, dosbarth 7! Gwaith ardderchog!

WW2 Trip to Cardiff Castle

We had a great trip to Cardiff Castle to take part in some World War 2 activities.

First we learnt the songs We'll Meet Again and Hey, Little Hen, which we later performed with Class 6. Then we were met by an ARP warden, who told us about his role. We then went into the Air Raid shelters of the Castle. Finally, we had an interesting talk about many aspects of the war, such as gas masks, incendiary devices, the bombing of Cardiff etc. We even had the opportunity to use a stirrup pump to put out a 'fire'!

VE Day Celebrations

To celebrate the end of World War 2, people from around the country held street parties. So we decided to hold our very own Victory Party in Llanhari Primary School.

Classes 6 and 7 put up bunting, enjoyed a plate of 'rationed' food and raised a glass (of milk) to the brave servicemen and servicewomen who fought for our country. We also made a toast to all people who helped to keep us safe, to whom we are very grateful!

Da iawn, pawb, ymdrech ardderchog!

Recycling Workshop

This week, the juniors have had a workshop about the importance of RECYCLING.
We studied different products and had to work out how long it would take for these products to rot away. Some items will take 100s of years!!
So remember ..... help save our planet by recycling all we can!
