Year 6 Trip to Liddington Bay

What a fabulous trip we had to the PGL camp at Liddington Bay, near Swindon. The children had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities, such as abseiling, climbing, trapeze, canoeing and quad biking. There were approximately 180 pupils who will all be going to Y Pant Comprehensive School in September. What a great way to make friends!!!

Caitlin and James' debating contest at Y Pant

For the last 4 weeks we have be going down to Y Pant for a Transition Parliamentary Debating Challenge. The teacher who taught us debating was Miss Munday . The first week we were told what we would be doing over the next 4 weeks, there was a series of levels on what we had to achieve. We were given homework on a daily basis to do over the Easter holidays and that was the final debating homework we had to do for the a finale, which was a big debate against the year 8s.

Caitlin was on  the opposition for 'pupils with bad grades should not represent their school in sports' and James was on the opposition for 'why homework should be banned'. All the parents of the chosen ones were there and Mrs Elphick had joined the crowd to watch us. James' group went 4th and Caitlin's group went 6th.

James had a certificate for being on the best debating team and was judged as best opposition speaker over all.

By Caitlin and James

James opposed the idea that homework should be banned.
He was voted best opposition speaker by the panel of judges.

Caitlin opposed the idea that children with bad grades should not be allowed to represent their school in sport.

Caitlin and James share their hard work with the rest of the school in our Merit Assembly.

Very well done to Caitlin and James for their hard work and for making Llanhari Primary School extremely proud of their efforts and achievements.

Da iawn!!!
