Let's Get Physical!!

Class 7 thoroughly enjoyed their session of 'physical theatre' with Mrs Watts. They had great fun making numbers and letters in the warm up and worked with the same level of enthusiasm during the main activity. Each group were given a verse from the poem River Journey by Moira Andrew, they then had to act out the verse through movement and sound. The results were amazing!

Mr Francis' Visit

Mr Francis came into school today to talk about his experiences as a writer. He told us about his story writing in school. He spoke about ways in which we can make our stories more interesting by using our senses. What can the character see/hear/smell/touch/taste?

He also explained to us how he came to write about the history of Llanharry. He studied many maps and books and discovered information about the Beaker Burial, the church, the Norman font etc. His first publication was launched in the late 60's .

He then wrote the book The Border Vale of Glamorgan (1976) which eventually sold 3000 copies!

A lovely treat for Book Week!

Olivia shows us a photograph of her ancestor 'Annie Baltic'.

Bailey's Boxing Match

This is my trophy. I won it at Porthcawl and Pyle in a boxing match, in an exhibition match.
I was up against this eight year old boy but I for got his name.
He boxed for Porthcawl and I boxed for Pencoed.
We both did well.

Very well done to all the children who took part in the recitation heats and earning those points for your teams. The finalists and reserves should also be very proud.

Farewell Miss Leewarden

It was a sad end to the half term as we had to say goodbye to our student teacher, Miss Leewarden. Miss Leewarden has been working extremely hard with year 6 over the last 7 weeks and she will certainly be missed! We wish her all the best for the future!

Diolch yn fawr, Miss Leewarden!!

Water Music

Class 7 have been extremely busy and very musical this week! To start, we read a range of poems on the theme of 'Water' and discussed the use of poetic language. We then worked in groups to create a musical composition based on an aspect of water, such as the Water Cycle, the Journey of a River, Storm, to name but a few. The results were amazing!
